Tanya Valentin, daughter of a Puerto Rican mother and German father, was born   in Miltenberg, Germany. After she finished her studies as a classical soprano at the manes college of music with Louis Winters in New York, she continually challenged and reinvented her musical surroundings and blended musical styles with her classical roots.

In New York’s underground scene her first performances were at Nublu (home of The Brazilian Girls) and the infamous Lotus Club. Her live performance at Snitch, a  rock concert space owned by Velvet Revolver, caught the attention of the New York Post page Six....the legendary bands Korn, Fuel and Velvet Revolver ....were astonished by the intoxicating performance of Tanya Valentin, also known as Desia.”

Together with DJ Mark Feggins she creates a operatic fairy tale . Presented live at the Funkshion Miami and the Fashion Channel BET.

In 2006 she briefly moved back to Germany, where she collaborated with Germany’s number one recording artist, "Best German Act" MTV Awards,  Xavier Naidoo. She introduced Klassik Unplugged, at the State Castle "Residenz Munich" and in Viena, Castle Belvedere, Kunsthalle, open air classical festival, etc., a first of its kind classical recital. DJ Jondal from classic radio, Germany, introduced the evening. Traditional lieder and arias from Mozart, Schubert, Strauss were performed by Tanya Valentin accompanied by renowned instrumentalists.

A decisive role in the performance is her extraordinary dramatic presence.  She captures the tragedy and passion of arias and finds the thin line of mixing it with music from soundtracks like the Matrix from Don Davis, Craig Armstrong/ Gladiator. She creates a new outlook on opera for a younger audience.

She became the resident artist of Mansion from the Opium Group,  the hottest Club in New York. She has performed at the 2008 Tribecca Film Festival Director Awards, the 2008 New York Fashion week opening party of Zac Posen and Jeremy Scott, the obscure cabaret “The Box”, Delancey Lounge and many more.  She performed with Paul Oakenfold at Rain in Las Vegas.

Momentarly she resides in Germany.
